The March 2009 issue of the e-Framework for Research and Education initiative newsletter is now available. This issue contains lots of updates as well as the very readable "Managers' Compact Guide to SOA".

JISC has announced a FREE Peer Review Workshop on the topic of the Case Studies in Sustainability conducted by Ithaka, with the support of the Strategic Content Alliance. The event will be chaired by Kevin Guthrie, President of Ithaka and facilitated with experts from Ithaka.

Two new JISC resources on e-portfolios were launched at ALT-C in Leeds: a guide in the JISC Effective Practice series, Effective Practice with e-Portfolios, which explores effective practice in the use of e-portfolios as a support to learning in a digital age, and an infoKit on e-Portfolios from JISC infoNet.

The JISC funded XCRI (Exchange of Course Related Information) project is working closely with European partners to develop a European standard for course information. The Metadata for Learning Opportunities (MLO) standard they have developed will be submitted to CEN (European Committee for Standardisation) in August.
